Dear all,
I am sorry to post here. I know this is wrong but don't know where to go to. My husband does not have any idea about how to invest his money. Could someone please help me and tell me how you can diversify your savings as an NRI for a safe secure future?
I rely on him for all this but I get no help.

It depends on how much you have to invest, whats your future plan, your background and if there is any family property....
Normally you have to have three different kind of investment. 1/3 - cash, 1/3- property and 1/3 in stock or MF. Again 50:50 here and in India if you have plan to go back to India in the future.
Or consider option one.

Thanks once again for your reply with in no time.I really admire your service.I went through your Faqs but the part i dint understood is..
If you don't show the extension approval notice (maybe because you didn't know the case was approved before you returned), you will get just the old expiration date on your new I-94. This will then be the operative end date, not the extension date. This is because CIS has a "last action" rule, whereby the last status they give you is what governs. In this situation, the last action would be your admission until the visa and date.
As i get a new I94 attached with expiration date as my new 797 approval date(Assuming i get approval after my travel when i am in USA) .So my old I94 is valid till My present visa date and after that i have my New I 94 which is valid till my Extension approval date.So iam unable to get what complication i may get into.Only problem i can think of is if i dont get I 94 attached to my I 797 Approval Notice.Do let me know if iam missing anything.Thanks again.
The complication occurs if the extension is approved while you are outside the US, and you only show the old visa on returning. In that case, your old expiration date will govern, because it will supersede the extension approval based on the CIS "last action rule."

I have already started procedure for filing a new PERM. Nothing will work the lawyer said. We have to file a new PERM.
try your senator. I might work. they have special staff at uscis. i am going to try it and see if they can get uscis to accept I-140.

1 - New SSN to get rid of pesky legend "requires INS authorization..."
2 - SSN for wife
3 - Drivers license for wife without pesky legend "temporary for one yr or until H1 validity...", etc.)
4 - Update I-9 form with employer
5 - Someone here said let your mortgage company know about GC if you own a home, not sure why?
6 - Do not hand over the I-94 card to the airlines/immigration offices at the airport. Keep it or through away
7 - Do not need to carry anything other then Passport and Green Card when travelling

Need your opinion on this.. filed for I-485 on EB2 in July 07. I am the primary applicant. I have been married since May '04. Need to apply for a divorce. My wife, a derivative in my application, is holding up the process as it may affect her chances of getting a GC without any sweat. She has an parallel GC process running solely in her name, which I believe hasnt cleared PERM yet (some sort of audit). She is on H1B, extendable for another 3 years, and has EAD from my GC application. Will there be any implications on her application if the divorce goes through? And also, can I out of spite do anything to get her derivative application out of the queue :rolleyes: ?

This is correct. Only your attorney will get the RFE.

Yes it does, if you go to book the appoint (emergency) or view dates available for emergency appts (on vfs visa website) , it lists the Examples for emergency appointments and include ppl who are already in US and need to go backto join their work

I have asked my lawyer to fill i140 in PP. But he said they can not because the original labor certificate is not available and USCIS will have to locate the original certificate which make sense.
Any my question is, my Priority date is June 2004. What happens after the I140 approval? Will they have to apply another i485? or use existing i485? if yes, how do they communicate to USICS to convert the old i485 from Eb3 to Eb2?

I transferred H1B from a teaching job (cap exempt) to a consulting company. As far as I remember, the H1B quota for companies was over at that time. I did not hear any complaints. Maybe my lawyer took care of it.
You should check to make sure.
May be you got lucky. AFAIK, transfers from non-profit/edu to for profit are always counted against the H1B visa number availability.

You have Enough time - I'd say a little more than enough time to think judiciously before you jump ship. Find a good employer -someone with whom you can stick around for a couple of years - and then make your move.
No need to be desperate and catch the first job opportunity which comes your way. PERM should take 4-6 months overall and one month for 140. You have 7 more months - now this is completely your personal choice - depending on how much of a risk taker are you - you can look for a good opportunity for say 2 months and then switch or loop another 4 months or maybe switch tomorrow. Thats a part you get to decide and enjoy.

They will reply to all the SRs and Infopass that the applications are not more than a month outside of normal processing times, so they would not reply. The Processing times were moved to that July 2nd date for a specific reason.
I think that if they have some numbers they might start looking at older RD/PD. Believe it or not, they have many pending 485s with RDs even a lot earlier than July 2007.
Lets hope no numbers are lost. If they accomplish this and clear out all the 2004 PDs and earlier than 2007 July 2nd RD, that would be reasonable.
All that said, I have no trust in their communication or their abilities.

Mine is not h1 extension but what is called transfer - Company A to company B. Can I not enter using Company A's documents as they did not cancel my h1b and wont cancel it either. Also I will get pay stub from them till jul 15 for work done till jun 20th.
Since you have already joined company B, you should reenter, showing company Bs receipt notice, offer later, paystubs and company As approval notice along with I94 and passport.

I know the systems is so much screwed up. There are so many frustrated people with their priority dates EB2 before August 2004 and could not file I-485 until this July. Its a wonder USCIS approved a case with priorioty date of August 2005. :mad: :confused: the system is so disgusting.
Remember one and only one thing prevents FIFO (First in First Out) for I485 approvals and that is FBI name-check delays. I do not believe FIFO is not honored due to USCIS processing problems.
(BEC backlogs also inhibit GC FIFO but hopefully that will be over by Sep 2007)

It is rumored that USCIS in last month assigned visa numbers to applicants without FBI security-check completion. However, these GCs will not be approved if FBI checks are not completed by Sep 30, 2007 and the visa numbers will be returned to DOS. Hence, it remains to be seen how many visa numbers will be wasted in FY 2007 despite the fact that the visa bulletin says U August onwards.
Next to retrogression, this is a serious problem. But the irony is that retrogression allows FBI to enjoy, at our cost, years of delay in doing their job. However, you can also be so unlucky that your name-check does not clear when years later your PD becomes current

If the visa is already expired, you better wait to get the travel documents (AP) so you don't need to go for stamping.
If you use AP to go and return without stamping new H1, can you continue working with H1 or you've to use EAD? And if you use EAD, can you be with current employer?? This is confusing!! :confused:

I sent an email to chennai consulate requesting emergency appointment and they gave me the earliest available date. I had to provide my passport number and return travel date.
Went to HDFC bank and got the DD for visa fees and VFS fees and went to consulate at the specified time. Visa interview went fine and the officer said I could collect my passport at the VFS counter if I need it immediately.
I went to the chennai VFS counter for 2 days in a row to collect my passport and they said they did not recieve it yet. The third day I called and was told that passport can be picked up. But when my uncle went to pick it up they said it was not there.
I called the courier company Bluedart and gave them my passport number and they said it is in transit and I recieved it.
So the visa interview went fine but there were some unexpected delays in recieving the passport. Finally I got it on the day of my travel and came back to US finally.
Just wanted to update all about my experience and thank you for all your help.
