It seems that Indian govt cant do much to raise this issue in WTO.

I have started taking printouts of the instructions and handing it to people - hoping that will increase the probability of them calling.

Great idea. Thanks for doing this. As we know from our admin fix campaign, our own members sometimes do it as soon as you hand out a hard-copy!

Also folks please don't feel shy to speak to these reps or their aides. On the other hand, please know that they respect you a lot for taking the time to call them and let them know what you feel about an issue.

As per our lawyers, right now USCIS is in the process of entering our applications in their system (for date of receipt and such). There was a memo from USCIS saying that they will be done with the job of data entry by August 1.

From August 1, we can expect either rejection or acceptance of the actual application. The hope is that a court/congressional intervention before August 1 will change the USCIS action of rejection into acceptance.

    Flowers to Condi; any body?

    Cheers,
    h1techSlave

I think, we should start another flower campaign for Condi....she too deserves to be bombarded with flowers....I was appalled listening to her views/opinions TV on the July visa bulletin fiasco....

Let's just compare it with membership-based organizations like IEEE, for instance.

You enroll/become a member, you get access to member-only areas of the web site, and plenty of other benefits to make membership worthwhile.

Earlier today I received a mailer from "The Club" (Commonwealth Club of California, iirc). For the benefits offered, and for the general spirit and intent of the club, I thought the $85/110 membership dues were quite reasonable.

My question comes back to IV - why can't 10,000 or all 25,000 of IV's members decide what we're doing is worth it, the access to information is worth it, the free legal guidance and advice is worth it, and other benefits (that may be thought up... for instance travel discounts, etc.) are worth it - to "contribute" to IV (call it whatever you will - contribution/membership dues)?

Next, of course, is the concept of "premium" membership for web sites like WSJ.com, or technical ones like Experts-Exchange for instance. You join, you get premium content. IV has much more to offer than just premium content here.

(As a sidenote, one example is members getting newsletters - online or paper - with expert legal opinions and answers on our most common questions. Authoritative, as much as they can be, with documentation where required... rather than spending 2 hours searching the forums and still coming up blank or inconclusive... )

There are other logistics issues that can be resolved, and *we* = all members, will empower IV to do a lot more by doing that, imho. I can think of 20 things we can do in addition to this lobbying effort - and we won't have to start a funding drive each time we decide to do something.

Thanks for participating in this debate and making your opinions known. Most importantly, this is about brainstorming and coming up with more ideas - regardless of whether we take this membership-only approach or not.

Ultimately, whatever IV is able to accomplish will benefit the entire legal immigrant community, regardless of contributions/memberships. However, the need of the hour is to realize the opportunities we are missing because of lack of resources and hands in most cases.

    cheers!
    jazz

I guess you are talking about premium membership like wsj etc. I am not sure a free exchange of ideas can occur if we put our membership for sale by restricting access to some parts of the website. IV will lose some of its sheen and I am not sure the tradeoff in membership $ is worth it- dunno just doesn't feel right in the gut

its clearly written in Sep'2008 bulletin. However, seems like EB3-I wont' get any of it and all numbers will be given to EB2. we loose again.

    Its all EB2.

They even can't think logically that 5+ yrs of difference between EB3 & EB2 makes EB3 automatically same as EB2 as per their qualification definition.

    1) Google Ads are a must. When bloggers with 50-60 visitors make good deal of money out of it. IV with 25,000 members can definitely make much more, without any investments. Providing direct advertising opportunities to Immigration Attorneys, Law firms, Employers is also a good idea ( how ever they may demand IV curtail criticism coming from members !)

    2) Paid membership is a great idea.Noise (general discussion, tracking threads) can remain free for all.

However, IV updates must be reserved for paid members ( who are paying to make these updates happen) or made pay-per-view. If it turns away a non-contributing non-active member, well, this is America. There is no such thing as 'free lunch' buddies.

25,000 non-contributing inactive persons is NOT a strength, that's one hell lot of liability in terms of web-site maintenance costs.

    3) IV should delete all GREAT NEW IDEAS posted unless they are accompanied by donations. A lot of energy is wasted discussing these ideas pushing IV funding threads , updates etc. into oblivion. Will save our energies spent bumping important threads.

On the tax return 1120S Schedule L we have about 170,000 in the retained earnings line. Can this be used as part of the net current assets?

That seems to be the way where this is heading. Would this be another july fiasco?.
I dont mean to sound negative but I desperately need a way to file I-485 for my wife to get EAD. She has been rejected twice just coz she did not have a work permit/or was not a GC holder/citizen.
Mind you she has a brilliant engineering academic record and worked in India for 2 years a Java programmer before marrying me
I don't know if USCIS has "wasted" visa numbers but just like the Government has been "borrowing" money from future why cant they borrow "visa numbers" from future (or even past for that matter)...does sound ridiculous  The economy is in recession for last 2 years for sure. Less and less number of folks are filing for GC. I would expect the EB1 numbers spilling over big time to EB2. That has not happened. Its been 3 loooong years after the July 07 fiasco and USCIS still doesnt have enough numbers to clear the backlog...this is BS.
Bottomline is we do need USCIS to advance the dates rapidly enough so that thousands like me can be relieved of their daily ordeal in US....sorry for the selfish thought..:o I just had a shot of tequila....

    [QUOTE=sachug22;261611]We know:

EB1 and EB2-ROW was current the whole year, which means there are not many pending+ready cases.
They have used all EB3 visas.
What they are left with is 20,000 visas(10-15% of 140,000 since more than 80% was used in first 3 quarters). This will be mostly for EB2 India/China.

They may not have enough pending+ready application for pre-april-2004 (previous VB). So they had to moved the date forward to get enough applicantions not to waste the numbers.

I think the above reasoning is right. They have many visa numbers left and also have visa numbers spilling from EB1. They dont want to waste it (finally!!) thus moved the date forward to approve many visa quickly as they did June 2007 before July fiasco. They approved 30-40 K applications at that time.

India network is a fixed coverage plan for all ages. It only provides the coverage for the small fraction of actual expenses in most cases. It is better to consider comprehensive coverage plans like 'Atlas America'.

I recently read that the customer's expenses were $25,000 but AIG (India Network plan) only paid $1,750.

I used this for quite some time. it is the best.

Second the idea of using an ATM card for this purpose. You can get an ATM card for your parents or relatives in India from your local credit union or bank in the US.

ATM is a good idea.. What I normally do is I take or send my US check book signed of course and my name or family members name in pay to field.. No transfer fee or any thing and you can directly deposite it in any bank account with USD amount on it. The catch here is it take 10-15 business days.. but if it is not an emergency I find this is the best way and besides this you get better rate too...

    caliguy,

I am in same boat as you.

2 i-140's approved with same company, both are EB2, one is RIR one is PERM.

PERM one had Jan 2006 PD where my RIR had Nov 2004.

I-485 was applied using Nov 2004. USCIS may be looking at other one and thinking PD is not current. What a mess.

    Gawwshhhhh
Now the reports saying both parties have an eye on 2008 presidential
election so they wont do any controversial bill. Same thing was said before the midterm election. So once they after the presidential election would they again say they have to face the midterm in 2010 so no controversial bills?

    Its seems like

    While ( 1<2)
    {
    printf( "NO EB VISAS." )
    }

How do we break the loop????

    thanks
