names with slave in it and with out immigration. How does they make sense to what we are doing here? We are neither slaves nor a social networking website. If you go and search the threads this came up an year ago and it was turned down because of what logiclife explained clearly. I have simply thought that a redirection of URL is enough. Its not true. We need quite a bit of paperwork to be done and it needs some knowledge and experience as well, which is more than suggesting a name change. More over, we have some brand value as IV for some time. Amidst all these highly inflammable bills, name changing can eat away precious time that can be dedicated to imp work.
How about we guys do the 2 things pappu keeps on emphasizing?
1) Meet with lawmakers
2) Contributions and get our friends to contribute.

While presidential candidates are trying to come up with solution to save underwater mortgage and mortgage house, immigragation community can buy very small percentage of house under foreclosure. One of the presidential candidates requested to put a halt on foreclosures. IL police refused the job of forcing people out of foreclosed homes.

company B is offering me a fulltime position with a 3 month introductory period in which they can fire me without having to provide any reason

- Obviously i am assuming if they fire me then i will have to ask the next employer (company c in this case) to file for AC-21?
- Also in this case does any of the 2 companies A and B have the right to revoke to I-140 or just company A?

It depends mainly on your ED evaluation, and also other officer, who got your file.
Some of them got approvals and some rejected.

Don't do the mistake of renewing it in India. I did that mistake and had to go through one hell of corrupt bureaucracy.
I am going to India for couple months and plans to return back on AP.I am planning to get my passport Renewal in India.Is it OK to Renew in India as it shows my India address.

Help!!
Is any company filing new PERM applications in this economy? I was told that my current company (a really big one at that) is holding off PERMs indefinitely because we had some layoffs- indefinitely!
My H1 runs out in Oct 2010, and I heard that I have only till end of Nov 2009 (including what I found out is called recapture time) to file.
Now, I found out that my company have do newspaper/online ads for positions to demonstate that they tested the labor market etc etc (all stuff that I heard from the attorney), and I got the impression that she has no idea when they are going to do this and start filing again, and I got something like a best of luck look from her. I am freaked out now.
Any of you out there know if any companies are still filing PERMs? I am on a EB-2 in Software.
Also, if I join a new company, can I file a PERM immediately? Or is it just best of luck to me?

They do not care about greencard on H1B thinking that it will come whenver the company applies until it is too late. They enjoy the first 3 years of H1B enjoying America and dollars and do not bother about IV or advocacy or contributing money to IV. I have seen such people even telling others it is a waste of time and making fun of IV. After 3 years they renew H1B thinking that they still have 3 more years. But once 6 years are about to expire they worry that they will have to leave US of A and the land of opportunities. It is at that time they try to start greencard process and check out IV. These same people then start contributing to IV and take this effort seriously.
You still have time of 1 year and 9 months and that is good enough to get your labor through. Good luck and hope you find help from people here.

I am in a similiar situation. My 485 was approved and my wife got her physical GC but I did not get mine. I took Infopass and the IO raised a SR. My case is from CSC to NSC. I got a response to the SR that my GC was sent and it might have got lost in mail and to file I-90. I called uscis customer rep, talked to 2nd level IO who mentioned that my card was never created and he will raise a SR mentioning the same.
Today I got 2nd FP notice mentioning that I did not give FP for the first one (I gave FP ahead of the scheduled date and verified with FBI if my prints were uploaded or not) and to appear for FP on Jan 11th, 2011. I spoke with a IO on the day this FP notice was sent and IO asked me the date I gave FP and he mumbled some numbers and checked something in the system. He said he had fixed the issue and ignore the 2nd FP. He mentioned his name to me. I should have taken his extension as well. I hope I get the card now or else I need to take Infopass. I emailed nsscfollowup with the scanned copy of the first biometrics notice which has the stamp from the ASC last week only.
I have n't contacted senators and congressmen yet and did not email the scopsscata yet

I am not sure if they do police verification, even for renewals. If that is the case, there is potential for delay.
I think, renewing in the US is a fairly simple process and in most cases be accomplished in 3 weeks. There is a separate question that asks for your Indian address, so that should not pose a problem.

please don't post information you are not sure of. unless employer withdraws H1 there is no way USCIS can know of this. (Employers are not legally bound to file for H1 withdrawal) Also I would like to know the source of your 'zero tolerance' policy in regards to H1. In fact they forgive upto 6 months of 'unauthorized' employment when processing I-485. (http://www.murthy.com/news/n_nscuna.html). If they wanted to have 'zero tolerance' they would have forced employers to withdraw H1 or atleast inform USCIS of layoff.
Also you say "one should inform USCIS before I-485 is approved'. Again this is wrong information.
Please do not start fear mongering based on incomplete information.
I hope you "heard" it from others too and i read those things from some immigration sites . Don't have exact link. And GOD save folks from USCIS when people say they have N number of days of grace period for H1B status .

Please read the text of the article. It is clearly skewed. The way the whole matter is painted is that the bill would give "illegals an easy to citizenship", which is not an easy sell come election times. This is not reporting of a news item, rather a clear indication of where the paper stands on this issue. Everybody knows what to expect from W.times -a mouthpiece of ultra conservative, right wing Republicans who stalled CIR last summer. The language of this is no way different from that of last year when CIR was being staged up and during the rallies in DC.
I know IV is trying hard and sincere. But still if 5-10 votes will determine the passage of pro-immi bills in the congress and that they should come across the aisle from Republican side makes me really skeptic of a positive outcome. I for one,am not losing my hope but just tempering it with a lot of apprehension.
Wash Times is as conservative as your Lou Doubbs... I dont trust them...

Just back from a useless infopass. IO flashed 'urgent' memo (dated 8/21) circulated by uscis/dos and said effective 8/21 there is a freeze on AOS EB2i/c so wait till oct. BTW my EAD is expiring on 9/23 and renewal filed on 5/27 according to her is outside processing time (apr08). She said case is at TSC and can only sent e-mail, which may take 3-4 weeks for any response. SO all-in-all-a-waste-of-time.
No explanation for why Aug processing dates not yet out.

You should not have quit the job under mere threat of lawsuit esp. when he did not have anything to hold over you anyways, In future, of course, just to be on safer side, send a back dated letter with your resignation and date it to your last working date for that employer that way your 12 month counter starts from that back date..
