We see a lot of these articles every day praising illegal immigration. How about creating a google group with volunteers that will pick up such similar articels and post a rebuttal, either online or through another website?
The one we discussed yesterday was about how illegals contribute to the economy by paying $1.5 Billion in income tax for an estimated 15-20 million illegals.
This was estimated from the 2010 Census data.
We could initially post these rebuttals online on probably a section of the IV website and also send it to other news sites.
People who are good at parsing excel/MDB, csv sheets will be useful.
Most people are not aware of our issues and contributions to society.
Were you part of the call yesterday on the Filing I-485 when PD is not current....we do have plans like these...and take part.

I Agree, good post, one of the more beneficial ones in here, continue posting articles that you think are of benefit to the community irrespective of the source or what some others think.

Please read the text of the article. It is clearly skewed. The way the whole matter is painted is that the bill would give "illegals an easy to citizenship", which is not an easy sell come election times. This is not reporting of a news item, rather a clear indication of where the paper stands on this issue. Everybody knows what to expect from W.times -a mouthpiece of ultra conservative, right wing Republicans who stalled CIR last summer. The language of this is no way different from that of last year when CIR was being staged up and during the rallies in DC.
I know IV is trying hard and sincere. But still if 5-10 votes will determine the passage of pro-immi bills in the congress and that they should come across the aisle from Republican side makes me really skeptic of a positive outcome. I for one,am not losing my hope but just tempering it with a lot of apprehension.
Wash Times is as conservative as your Lou Doubbs... I dont trust them...

Everybody in this forum knows this. Core IV is on top of these items and every IV member should have confidence that they will steer everyone in proper direction as and when required. Do not get panic and call for unncessary shots on this sensitive issue.
I am not sure when the CIR will pass...its not on Nancy Pelosi aganda in forseeable future... and several people already mentioned that if it didnt pass by MAY07 then you are looking at Jan 09 to get immigration stuff to happen...
I think we need to work on an interm EB relief bill ...which is absolutely non contraversial and try to pass it....not worring about piggy backing the CIR...
Issues such as h1 increase or adding more numbers need not be in it...we can include things like EAD after I-140...spouse/childer not considered for EB quota...etc...
Unless we act desissively now...its going to be a long way to 2009..

Are you planning to get it stamped when you are outside US?
I just talked to my attorney and he says that the US Embassy will club both the 797 dates and give you a combined visa. I still would like to confirm it with other sources as it sounds too good to be true.
I-94 on current I797 expires 4/30/2007
Am expecting H1B approval 4/30/2007-4/30/2010 soon.
Plan to travel in February 2007.
One thing I noticed is my previous visa stamps only had a end date but no start date. So I am guessing/hoping the start date is effectively dictated by I797 (which I will have 2 of).

Is there anyone on the forum who is currently doing a daily commute between Canada & US in general, or Windsor and Detroit in particular ?
Can you please share your experiences ? Good or Bad
What are the frustrations, hassles, issues in doing this.
I have heard that during work commute hours the cars kleep moving fast and officials doint delay if you have proper papers, but on weekends its a nightmare (so wont affect us).
Any real experiences you can share will be appreciated.
Also p[pl from Detroit, MI can you share info on your city. Major employers, good areas to visit/live, desi life and culture etc.
Thanks

Congratulations on becoming a new Father. Though your name sounds as if you were the mother :). Anyway, if you got 4 interviews in 6 weeks, that sure does not look like weak economy. I remember the recession of 2001-2002. People used to get one interview in 4 months back then.
Laid off 6weeks back. Attended 4 interviews. Outof luck.
I used to get many calls from desi consultants. But not now. I do not know whether it is because of economy or my EAD status.
Here are my excuses to not to get job.
1.New Father (I was little confused about how every thing goes. Thank god no set backs here)
2.Functions(I was occupied to celebrate his 21st day).
3.Taking care of new born( He needs to be feed once in every two hours. Mother got tired of this.)
4.Holiday season.
5.Economy.
6.I am good at supporting my situation :) .
Hopefully I will land some where by Jan Mid.

From Matthew Oh Website:http://www.immigration-law.com/
Dr. Emilio Gonzalez has just released the latest statistics of the USCIS backlog elimination status. The statistics show number of pending cases by different causes as follows:
Total Pending Cases: 1,131,333
Cases Pending Customer Follow-Up Action: 200,828
RFE or Fault in Initial or Other Required Documentation: 187,457
Others: 13,371
Cases Affected by Limits on Annual Immigration such as Retrogression: 793,722
Family Based Cases: 682,936
Employment-based or Other: 110,786
Cases Pending Other Agency Action: 136,763
4,905: Other Agencies Investigation Result Waiting
130,091: Interview Completed but Waiting for Name Check Clearance
Do these numbers agree with what we at IV have been estimating? Was surprised to note that only 110,786 cases were affected by retrogression in the EB category.

The instructions will provide you with an (800) number to call to make an appointment to go to the nearest Application Support Center (ASC) to have your INDEX PRINT AND PHOTO TAKEN. PLEASE CALL IMMEDIATELY AND MAKE AN APPOINTMENT. When you call the (800) number, please select the FINGERPRINTING OPTION.
Above instructions are not correct anymore. You will be sent a letter for ASC appointment, you don't need to call.

Thanks for advice. Yes my last M.Sc. and Ph.D. from the USA.
Could you please clarify what "find out NIW holders in your / related engg field"? How can I find out?
Do you believe EB2-NIW is easier than EB1-OR?
Thank you,
John
You cannot apply for EB1-OR on your own. Only EB2-NIW and EB1-EA can be self-sponsored. If your employer applies for EB1-OR then it might be easier than EB2-NIW since you don' have any citations. To find out "NIW in your own field", talk to your adviser ... he might know other students who applied. You lawyer might have handled cases in your field. No citation is not good but hard to quantify what is a respectable number of citations. A few hundred might be okay in one field but maybe a thousand in another field of research/work.

Employer has to show that he can support all the employees that have an 140 pending. It cannot be attributed to being sadistic alone.
However, having an official AC21 process would be good.
I think so too, the employer wants to scr** us while we are with him, but he doesnt care a rats a** if we are not with him even if we have worked for him for years. The employer has to show ability to pay since GC is for future employment, so he simply revokes 140 to get rid of this burden. The whole system has flaws and Indian EB immigrants are the worst affected.
