Mccain is good for us as long as he seperates himself from house republicans. Obama is good if he gets rid of that stupid durbin.
Though Mccain is business friendly. There are talks on CNBC and Wallstreet about rebuidling capital in this country and skilled immigration is part of it. I think Michele..I don't know last name wrote an article in Wall Street Journal Today supporting Legal Immigration , innovation and creating demand for housing in this country. It's the protectionist lobby which is screwing the country.

how do i check if my name is stuck in fbi namecheck or cleared? Just callin USCIS will provide the info or is there anythin to be done.

Of course, person on L1 status can work at client site as long as he/she is directly managed by company that has sponsored L1 visa. They can not be directly managed by client. That is the restriction. Have you even read posts in this thread?
FYI, there will be a manager from TCS/WIPRO/IBM side to whom all these L1s will be reporting... This shows your poor understanding of how an Indian company is being operated...

I had my visa interview in Mumbai on Dec 28th. A PIMS Verfication was required for them to be able to issue me a visa. This is for an H1-B extension of stay - My six years expired in Nov. 2007 and my green card is in process.
I was told the time they are taking for procesing is 48 hours but I still have not received any notification to take my papers to the VFS center.
Has anyone in this situation already received their visa and stamped passport and if so how long did it take?

Sunny and Rolling came out as selfish to the majority of the members because they just focused on their issues first and identified some of the root causes for their long wait.
I think we should all atleast encourage them in their pursuit for justice. We have nothing to lose. When a specific group works on an issue which is affecting them most they would do the best to get that fixed.
This would motivate other smaller groups with other issues to take up theirs seperately. The more this happens the more heat it will generate on these 3 agencies DOL, USCIS and DOS.
Then we as a bigger organization can work much faster on getting the bigger issues resolved which in turn will fix lots of these smaller things in the system.
These kind of initatives are a win win for everybody. Every small step would help us go move towards our goal instead of trying to take one gaint step and getting bogged down.
PS: Waiting for miracles is onething for people who trust in God
But acting on ones own issue can get them closer to that miracle

i got no email, no slip, so i dont know if its stuck in PIMS or some checks ???
And if its really NOT PIMS and something else, then how long does one estimate ?? how long could an administrative processing take ? how long could security check take ? how long could name check take ? etc etc..

I have seen some of your posts and looks like your the oldest waiting since the dates have been current. Are you considering filing WOM since you will be current for 4 months by Oct. What is lawyer saying? Although I have been just current for 12 days the wait seems forever so I understand how you must be feeling.
What did your senator/congressman say?
Where is your application TSC or NSC? If it is TSC, did you try to send email to streamline email address? I know you must have done everything. Also you can try to goto the local office and have them issue you a FP notice if they have expired. Maybe that will set things in motion since I know some IOs just want to issue another FP and not refresh the old one in their systems.

It is amazing that how these people are ready to spend tons of money and time for such selfish causes.
If this kind of enthusiasm is displayed on IV action items and contributions then there would be better chances of achieving the goals of this community.
People who created this forum, which is helping this community so much, have been working for years.. selflessly.. spending time and money and effort many times spending their own money for the causes of this community.. people like Aman, Pappu, Pascal, logiclife et al... There are lots of people in this community who thought about the community first.
If they were like you.. then things would have been worse.
But, if you are so hell bent on putting your GC first, irrespective of the damage to the cause of the community, if you are so mad about yourself.. why do you care about polling.. Go alone.. just focus on "you and your GC" .. achieve something alone.. You can then keep all the benefits to yourself.. all yours..Go ahead!
Just like your campaign, the fundamentals on which you run it, cannot be trusted.. because if it suits you, you'll sell you supporter's interests for your own GC.
That's why you get support from very few....

If clerk is doing this as per instruction means, we are being noticed and that is precisely what we wanted anyways. I don�t think USCIS higher ups have any malicious intent. Whole issue may be due to lack of training of IOs.

Do you have F1 stamped or you just changed your status from F-1 to H-4?
My wife has H4 stamped on her passport which expired last year. We had got H4 extended last year, but has not been stamped. After that she changed status to F1 again not stamped. Now as per my lawyer's advice probably we will need to change her status back to H4.
My lawyer has suggested that it is not advisable to be on F-1 while applying for 485. You might argue that you are not the primary applicant ( on F1), and USCIS might buy that. But risks remain. Specifically if you have to travel out of country before your I-485 application is adjudicated you will have problem.
Since we all know that right now USCIS is just taking applications, and it might be mighty long time before applications are adjudicated, I have decided to not take risk applying on F1 status.
