1. documented / undocumented is a matter of immigration status..... no human can be illegal..... an activity can be illegal which makes a person undocumented...... as defined by human law...... but above human law there is another law..... which is defined by an entity more or less we all believe in..... how can a new born child.... a creation of the creator be illegal? delivery of a child is not just a matter of mother.... its a matter of another life being brought into this world..... how can that child be illegal?
2. even felons are not shackled to bed.... unless someone is danger to others..... how can a pregnant woman just about to deliver a child be danger to anyone else.....
3. i lost my wallet few days back.... anyone could lose their wallet sometime or the other ..... it happens..... and during that time we are all driving with a license..... does it mean we all must be shackled to bed when delivering a child......
4. unpaid driving fines?? big deal.... obama had unpaid tickets.... which were paid just before announcing presidential nomination.... majority of the people voted him to become the president..... but according to you..... its ok to shackle someone when delivering a child if that person had unpaid tickets..... nice....

I don't know if the memo thing is correct or not but I did call NSC using POJ method and I was told not to expect anything before Oct 1st.

Great job IV!
Thanks for everything you do.
Now every member that had a negative comment towards IV today after noon should be ashamed. There were some harsh criticisms. I've been a member of IV well before the fiasco and have joined the flower campaign and have not one negative thing to say about IV. Excellent job IV (including all supportive members). You rock.

Last year the H1B US MS cap wasn't over until the mid week of April and I think this year it's not going to be the same as there were a lot of missed MS applicants(I am one of them) but I don't think that the MS quota cap has no reached yet.

Many are saying there won't be any IO at ASC. Not true, when I went in for Finger prints, I asked the lady who takes the finger prints about enquiring about my I-485 status! She said, she can't help, as she does not have the access and told me to call the 1-800 number and also try asking the IO at the window as there are not many people waiting and is the IO is free she might help.
SO, after finger prints, I went back into the office and there was only one guy talking to the IO another lady was waiting. I asked the lady, if she was waiting for the IO, she said she is here with her husband. She's an African American lady and her husbandwas inside the Fingerprinting room, I am guessing this as that guy sounded like from Africa and may he's a Family Based visa applicant.
Aftert the guy at the counter finished his work, I went to the counter as no one else was waiting there. I asked IO, a nice lady, if she could help me with the Status of our Name Check. SHe asked me, if I had an appointment, I said no, but I had a finger print appointment and I could not get an Infopass appointment around the same time (I had finger print appointment at 3 PM and I did try to get an Inforpass appointment around that time so that I could enquire about the status too, but there was none around that time and the closest one was around 12:45 PM, so I thought I would just try my luck).
She then said, we just received this memo and let me read it and said this supersedes everything and even everything is clear for you nothing will happen, asking me if I was from India/China hesitantly as she could fingure out I was from India, untill new visas are allocated in October. She then took our I-485 receipts and went inside to check the status of our applications.
I am in Midwest and not all the USCIS/ASC offices treat as bad, as these guys may not have that many applicants coming to the office, like int Northeast or California.
I had talked to her earlier also, after taking an Infopass appointment, as I had receive someone else's EAD and went to return so that the actual person would get her EAD. Last year USICS had sent some one else's EAD to me, the EAD was some one else's, but the letter it comes with was in my name (I had also received my EAD separately, strange are the ways USCIS works and I don't have to tell the guys at IV). Then also, she check status of our applications and told out namechecks were not cleared and finger prints were cleared. SHe even told, even if my wife's checks are cleared they would not apporve her untill my applications is approved. SO, I had this hope that this lady might help this time without Infopass appointment.

Around the second week of each month, a welter of activity breaks out on the online forums of Immigration Voice, a non-profit organization set up by employment-based legal immigrants in the US. Users on the site vie with each other to predict the cut-off dates for the next month�s Visa Bulletin. These dates dictate the hopes and lives of thousands of legal immigrants and owing to their sheer numbers, Indian and Chinese applicants make up the overwhelming majority of those who wait in line for employment-based US permanent residence.
Since 200x, barring a few anomalous months, the cut-off dates have largely languished between 2003 and 2004. While the annual limit of per-country allocated visas for Indian and Chinese applicants are exceeded by the number of applicants, the problem is compounded by the ongoing inefficiency of the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). This inefficiency occurs at many levels of processing:
1) Slow processing times often leading to wasted visa numbers that expire at the end of the immigration year.
2) Lack of transparency throughout the process.
3) Lack of customer service in spite of regular ramping up of immigration fees.
4) Random movements, spanning months and sometimes, years, in the cut-off dates of the monthly visa bulletins.
5) Lack of communication between the USCIS and the Department of State (DOS) (the agency that sets the visa bulletin).
These are some of the most glaring inefficiencies that law-abiding, tax-paying immigrants suffer throughout the lengthy process which more often than not spans a minimum period of five years. However, the most egregious of the USCIS�s faults is the apparently complete cluelessness as to the number of applicants pending in their database. It boggles the mind how an agency of such import is unable to give a definite figure to the number of applications remaining to be adjudicated. That the United States, the most advanced country in economic and military leagues, can�t account for its legal immigrants speaks to the need for more highly-skilled immigrants to improve the status quo?

I equate the situation to a person who sneaks into your house at night and in the morning demands that you respect his human rights and provide him with food and water. No one would tolerate that, yet some how some people think thats ok when it comes to the countries borders.
The church encourages it as most of the illegals are catholics. Poor and illeterate people are usually more likely to attend church and contributes to the churches influence. Believe me, were the Mexicans muslims, Jews or Hindus the church wouldnt care and would probably oppose it. The mosques and temples on the other hand might step in..............
Regarding the children, please understand why they are in this situation. Due to the choices made by their parents.
I think you and I can agree that illegals need to be treated with dignity. But they should not be coddled. . A US citizen who commits burglary, driving without a license, outstanding fines could easily be facing a jail term. The article wants you to feel outraged because her leg was shackled? Please read the headline again. Their strategy is to demonize the law enforcement when ever they try to enforce the law against illegals.
Yes the problem is deep seated and complicated. Giving amnesty would make them all legal, so the problem goes away! Just like you hear some people talk about drugs. Lets make all drugs legal, so the problem of illegal drugs will go away! What kind of solution is that?

Signs of a maturing organization and community....
It's always best to put oneself in the other person's shoes and see their point of view, if they have one.
Having said that, I would urge IV members to not respond to such comments with inappropriate language or responses. Remember, this is an organization of "high-skilled professionals", and act like one.

he is just expressing concern that more action is not taken. i wrote param a pm to explain, also this thread will not continue indefinitely. we do however need to be clear in our stand and in our actions. we should be able to enunciate what we believe without resorting to the kind of vitriol that is thrown at us. personally i am waiting to see that- it's important even to grow as a community and achieve success that we develop this ability. our strength lies in the facts not in any hate or rhetoric.

The question in the title of this post is for the user who gave me a red dot for "selling the July VB reversal"
I am going to re-iterate, for I firmly believe I owe my ability to file AOS to this organization!
If you too saved thousands of dollars owing to the VB reversal... this is the least you can and should do to help yourself to a GC, a few years sooner than otherwise.

but the categories and priorities were created to be based on the jobs too. and there are people in EB3 with bachelors degrees only. so what? it's meant for jobs that need a bachelors degree. it is indeed your misfortune to be in EB3.
It's very interesting to see the fight between EB2 and EB3. You don't seem to be concerned too much that EB3 is in a disadvantage. Well, the original topic was the 'disadvantage' of oversubscribed v. other countries. What if we apply the same principal of equality of EB2 and EB3 applicants and remove these categories completely. That would mean that EB2-I wouldn't get any GCs for the next two or three years until EB3-I has caught up. Fair?
I don't want to get into the discussion if country ceilings are fair or not. If, however, it was suddenly removed, ROW filers who are only a few months away wouldn't get any GCs for the next few years. I haven't seen any opposing comment, suggesting that the meaning of the I in IV has changed.
Anyway, in my opinion, the best bet would be to try to recapture Visas and increase country ceilings or set a portion aside for heavily retrogressed countries.
